Mount Nemo Conservation Area is one of the favorite parks for nature enthusiasts, thanks to its unique cliff-edge ecosystem and the incredible biodiversity thriving within the park. Stroll along any of the trails at Mount Nemo to enjoy magnificent views, with red-tailed hawks soaring above and a myriad of rare plants, animals, and insects all around. The park offers several trails of varying difficulty, and it connects to the famous Bruce Trail. Steep cliffs, mysterious caves, and dense forests are all waiting for you to explore.
When you see the word "Nemo," fans of the animated movie might recognize it as the name of the cute clownfish. However, this inland park has no connection to the fish of the sea. In 1906, residents living near the intersection of Guelph Line and Sideroad 2 (Base Line) wanted to establish their own post office, so they needed to come up with a name for their community. After much deliberation, they couldn’t decide on a name. In the end, inspired by the height of the Niagara Escarpment, they chose "Mount." The word "Nemo" in Latin means "nobody," implying that no one could decide on a name, thus the name Mount Nemo was born.
This event will start at Zimmerman Park by Bronte Creek and head toward the Mount Nemo Conservation Area. After exploring the beauty of the forest and mountain, we will return to the starting point.
