Trip to Lake Superior Provincial Park (4 nights and 5 days)

⏰ A friend asked how many days does it take to fully enjoy Lake Superior? This question is not easy to answer, as different people have different abilities and preferences. In my opinion, two days is enough for a visit here. If you want to experience the charm of the provincial park in-depth, you have to plan for a week's visit. Because we only booked the camp for 4 days, we had 5 days to play. It took us two days to check in and check out, so the actual time we had was more like 3 days. We counted this trip as a leisurely trip as everyone wanted to wake up naturally and not feel overworked.

⛺️ Campsites

Lake Superior Provincial Park has two campsites. One at the beginning and one at the end. I personally think that Agawa Bay Campground is the best option. It is close to the visitor center and has a large beach, suitable for kayaking and SUP. Furthermore, this campsite is very close to the best attraction, a pictograph site, a place I particularly like!

This time, we stayed at Rabbit Blanket Campground, located on the shore of Rabbit blanket Lake. Rabbit Blanket Lake is quiet and beautiful! See the picture above. If not for the mosquitos, this is a great place for dozing off!

🚶‍♀️ Hiking

We didn't walk too much as there were too many mosquitoes, and the children were reluctant to walk! But the hiking routes provided by the park are very complete. Most of the hiking routes are in the woods, which means the crazy abundance of mosquitoes 🦟. It is recommended that in addition to the anti-mosquito spray, you should also prepare a head net, which is an anti-mosquito tool that covers your head and neck!

The hiking route we chose this time is Agawa Rock Pictographs, only a 0.8km road. Although the hike is short, the trail is very steep, and the scenery is picturesque. I feel as if I'm in a trance sitting on the top of the mountain.

🚣‍♀️ Regarding boating and SUP, I recommend Sinclair Cove, right next to the Agawa Rock Pictographs. First, hike to the cliff to see the scenery, and then go boating under the cliff.

Naturally Superior Adventures & Rock Island Lodge is also a good place for boating and other watersports. You can rent equipment here, including kayaks, SUP, and Canoe, and the price is quite reasonable.

Renting closes at 5 pm, so go early! Don’t go to the right side of the water, as there are many whirlpools! It is very dangerous ⚠️

🏖️ Regarding the beach, we visited a few, but the best one is Sand Beach, close to Wawa. The white sand here is delicate, it is very comfortable to step on, and there are very few people. On the map, I was able to find Silver Falls. You can come and enjoy this waterfall. When you reach the falls, cross the bridge and continue driving forward. There is a sign of Sand Beach on the road. In addition, Old Woman Beach is not far from the Rabbit Blanket Campground. The beach is vast, and the sand quality is also good. It's a good place to watch the sunset.
