Visit Webster Icefall | Natural Wonders Not to be Missed

Meizi
In the early morning of the second day of the Lunar New Year, you might still be lying in bed trying to get extra sleep, but me and friends have already set off for Webster Fall!

To go to Webster Fall, you usually need to make an appointment and pay, and you can only see the waterfall from a distance. In order to get close to the waterfall, we chose to take the wild road this time.

Beautiful sceneries only appear in the dangerous peaks! On this road, you have to climb a very steep slope at the beginning until you see the railroad. After crossing it, you will find the trail leading to Webster Fall and Tew's Fall!

At the entrance to Webster Fall, I saw a pair of shoes hanging on the tall tree branches, swaying. My peers said that this is not a good sign, I couldn't help but feel nervous. Do you know what this might entail?

Gathering up all our courage, we chose to move forward. We encountered two ladies who came out of the valley and stopped to chat. They were very excited, and describe the wonders of the ice waterfall to us. They strongly suggested we go around behind the waterfall and that it would be incredible! Our worries disappeared in an instant.

With Spencer Creek partially frozen due to the cold winter, we left the hiking trail and headed down the valley. Stream water was flowing under a frozen layer of ice, and when I walked on it, I could occasionally hear the sound of cracking. I looked at the running water a few steps away. Although I wasn't trembling with fear, I told myself to be careful.

In such an environment in Winter, the beauty can only be truly seen by walking out in person. The joy in my heart was too difficult to describe in words.

Soon, we saw a waterfall! Is it Webster Fall?

Nope, this is Webster Fall's neighbour, more like the doorkeeper of Webster Fall.

Webster Fall was just a few steps away!

Isn't it spectacular?

It would be a shame if you left after just taking some pictures!

Do you know that you can go inside the waterfall? Go up from the right side of the waterfall and enter a fairyland!

It was very shocking! We marvelled at the magic of nature! But such masterpieces may disappear completely in a few days as the weather warms. Of course, there will be a similar landscape next winter, but it'll definitely not look exactly the same!

The excitement of me and my friends was beyond words. We wanted to get close to it but we were also afraid of breaking it...

After reluctantly leaving Webster Fall, we stopped at the nearby Tew's Fall, but we were in a bit of aesthetic fatigue already.

There are many benefits of hiking in winter: the unique winter scenery of ice and snow, clean roads (after snowfall), no mosquito bites, and no need to worry about little snakes that might slip past your feet.

Maybe you are worried about the cold. In fact, as long as your equipment is suitable, you may even feel a little hot during the hike, but it is completely different from the heat in summer!

Special equipments recommended for winter hiking:
1. Crampons: Be sure to buy professional crampons for ice climbing. The sharp metal gripping teeth effectively grip onto the smooth ice surface, and the anti-slip effect is very good.
2. Leg Gaiters: Leg Gaiters can prevent snow from entering your hiking boots, and also keep you warm, very practical!
3. Trekking poles
4. Quick-drying underclothes: This is important so that your sweaty underclothes can dry quickly against your own body temperature, avoiding any discomfort.
5. Lightweight warm jacket
6. Winter hats and gloves
